The east of Inje-gun is the watershed of Taebaeksan. It maintains steep mountains with Mu, Hyangrobong,
Seolak, Jeombong, and Bangdaesan and borders Yanggu-gun by Dosolsans that is based on Dae-am mountain
in the west. Several branches of Soyang river flow down to main stream via the middle of the gun. Buk and Hangye
river in the east, and Naerin and Bangdaegang in the south, Seohwagang in the north flow down to the main stream.
A small river terrace and a basin build main residential life zones around the rivers.
Soyang lake stretches to the southwest of the gun to be used for waterborne transportation to enter the western
part of Seolaksan. (Naeseolak) Geological features with a beautiful scene have strangely shaped rocks formed
by gneisses of the Paleozoic Era and granites of the Mesozoic era. Most places of the gun are connected to steep
mountains. This gun has rare creatures because it occupies watershed of the east and the west of the Korean
Peninsula, and has high ecologic values. Thus, some parts of the gun was decided that Seolak, Daeam, Daeu, Hyangrobong,
and Geonbongsan are natural protection zones.
On the other hand, although exchanges between west and east are very hard due to high mountain chain in a direction
from north to south, Jinbu, Misi, and Hangye ridge have been used for roads to connect east and west because they
are relatively low. Typical mountain climate is characterized in this gun located in inland mountains with big
temperature contrast of diurnal range as well as annual range. The annual mean temperature is 9.7°C, The mean
temperature in January is -5.3°C, in August is 22.9°C.
High altitude damages cold-weather damage, and strong turbulence often comes into the gun with a low temperature
phenomenon in the early summer. The annual precipitation is 1,057.2mm. It is relatively lower than other circumference
areas, but local geographical features in the gun are very different due to steep mountains, and for a long time,
high amount of snowfall appears at the alpine regions in the winter season.
