Mammals In the western coastal areas of Ganghwa-gun, Gimpo-si, Paju-si and Yeoncheon-gun there were total 11 species of mammals confirmed, which is very different from the past records. There were 4 mammal species that were confirmed living in the Ganghwa-gun area, but they are concentrated in Ganghwa-do, and the mammal population is very low in Gyodong-do.
	According to the local soldiers and guiding officers in the demilitarized zone, there are many wild cats inhabiting in the demilitarized zone of Ganghwado, Gimpo-si and Gyeonggi-do area and in the surrounding area, and raises concerns of ecological destruction. The wild dogs, although not that many, also is distributed throughout the area.
