| 1 Basic Policies - Preservation and development of values on the natural environment of DMZ to discuss the effective plan to use the resources through research activity with specialists of various areas including environment, tourism, culture, peace and press media, etc -Accumulate the data related to DMZ and through this, derive pending issues and coping plans. Draw interest of domestic and foreign prominent figures to extend the base of peace and unity |

| 2 Event Overview ＊ Basis for support : Gangwon Peace Prize Ordinance (enacted on June 30, 2006) ＊ Date of award ceremony : Middle of November each year ＊ Place : Cheorwon County Office Audotorium ＊ Awarded by : Gangwon-do·Gangwon Ilbo (joint award) -「Grand Prize」: 1 person (medal and 10 million won) -「Outstanding Exchange & Cooperation Award」: 1 person (medal and 5 million won) -「Outstanding Academic Research Award」: (medal and 5 million won) ＊ Participation candidates : About 200 people - Award winners : 3 people (1 person by each field as an individual or organization) - Invitees : 50 people (10 people from provincial agenciesㆍ 40 people from related organizations) - Other : 120 people (family of award winners, city & county and related organizations, etc) ㆍConcerned parties of government civil society organizations related to nationwide peace & unity movement ㆍDMZ ecosystem researchers, photographers, painters and artists, etc ＊ Event details : DMZ Peace Prize award ceremony, opening of international peace symposium |

| 4 ContestㆍNomination ＊ Nomination of Award Winners - 3 Gangwon Peace Prize award winners (1 grand prize, 1 exchange & cooperation, 1 academic research) ※ Not awarded if there are no qualified candidates ※ For the grand prize, the most outstanding person·organization will be selected from exchange & cooperation·academic research ＊ Nominees : Individuals or organizations who have contributed to world peace - The range of candidates cover entire world with various candidates including individuals or NGO, etc ＊ Contest : Public subscription by requesting cooperation for announcement from the related agencies (published on provincial paper, request for announcement cooperation by cities &counties and related organizations) or through press media such as Gangwon Ilbo ＊ Organization·Operation of Promotion Committee - Screening committee (7 people or less including the chairman) ㆍChairman : A prominent figure from Gangwon-do ㆍMembers : Recommended by Gangwon-do (4 people), Recommended by sponsor (3 people) - Practical Committee (5 people or less including the chairman) ㆍOrganization : Operated by being organized at the sponsoring agency of Gangwon-do and Gangwon Ilbo ＊ Screening Criteria - Screening of direct peace movement and contributing to world peace - Actual level of contribution to world peace through art·sports (status on submitting within deadline, record of contribution to world peace, social awareness, status on ethical flaw or status on correspondence to other nominating conditions) ＊ Recommendation of Candidates - Recommendation right holder : Domestic and foreign agencies·organizations·press media and NGO - Subjects of recommendation : Domestic and foreign agencies·organizations and individuals with clear contribution by each field ㆍRecommendation of domestic and foreign agencies·organizations and individuals that have contributed to the ease of tension between North & South or to world peace ㆍRecommend within deadline by attaching documentary evidences such as photos, etc after recording the contributions that can be verified based on recommendation documents and recording the subscribed area correctly ㆍCandidate list, letter of recommendation, contribution report and documentary evidence of contributions (records such as photos or films, etc) |
